Ex-Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal, has hit out at the Premier League club’s recruitment in a scathing attack.

Van Gaal was appointed at Old Trafford in the summer of 2014, after 10 months of David Moyes at the club.

The Dutchman spent two years in charge of the Red Devils, before being fired just days after they beat Crystal Palace to win the FA Cup.

Under manager Ruben Amorim, United endured their worst-ever Premier League campaign, but are set to reshape the squad ahead of next season.

Van Gaal has now claimed that they are “a commercial club” and that the manager does not decide who is signed.

“They are a commercial club, not a football club,” Van Gaal told Sky Sports.

“I have said that before and that’s always difficult.

“When the manager is not deciding which players have to come in, it is very difficult.”
