In a letter addressed to the KASU vice chancellor signed by the ASUU chapter’s acting chairman and secretary, Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi and Dr. Peter M Waziri said the decision was to give the state government benefit of the doubt.

“The union wishes to notify the university management that the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has approved the request of ASUU KASU congress to suspend the indefinite strike action that was declared by the branch on Thursday the 24th day of April, 2025. The suspension of the strike action is with immediate effect.

“The congress of ASUU KASU resolved to give the government the benefit of the doubt and to reconvene by the 30th of June 2025, to review the implementation of the Memorandum of Action (MO) between the union and the negotiation committee of the government of Kaduna State,” the letter said.

The management of Kaduna State University (KASU) had disclosed on Thursday that its branch of ASUU had suspended the strike.
